Sunday Scripture

Love is patient, love is kind.  Love is not jealous, it does not brag, and it is not proud.  Love is not rude, is not selfish, and does not get upset with others.  Love does not count up wrongs that have been done.  Love is not happy with evil but is happy with truth.  Love patiently accepts all things.  It always trusts, always hopes, and always remains strong.
Love never ends.
1 Corinthians 13:4-8

Feeding Five Thousand

I'm sure most of us have heard the story about Jesus feeding the Five thousand with five loaves of bread and two fish.  But I wonder if you noticed in Luke 9:13, after the disciples had come up to Jesus telling him it was getting late and they didn't have any food to feed them so he should tell them to go home.

Then Jesus said to them, "You give them something to eat."

Can you imagine?

There are five thousand people and Jesus tells you to feed them.  So of course, they started telling him they couldn't, there wasn't enough food unless they went to buy some.  And they didn't have enough money to feed that large of a crowd.

After he heard them he told them to gather the crowds and sit them together in groups of around 50 people.  The disciples did as Jesus said and divided up the 5 loaves and 2 fish and managed to feed the crowd with 12 baskets left over.

Were you listening, he said for YOU to feed them, maybe it's time we started paying a little more attention to what Jesus is telling us.

Does this mean you have to sell your car, or do something totally drastic, not unless the Spirit tells you, but I think it probably wouldn't hurt any of us to go just a little out of our comfort zone to show God's love to someone.

First Days!

Today is the first day of school.

This morning on our way to school we prayed.  We prayed for a good day, a good attitude, and the ability to make good choices.

Remember first days, remember what it's like when you walk into a class but you don't see anyone you know.  That's when we need to remember the Golden rule.  Treat others the way you want to be treated.

Of course that doesn't just apply to kids in school but to everyone, especially adults.  I am just as guilty as anyone else of getting in a hurry and focusing only on what I have going on.

Wouldn't the world be a lot nicer if everyone remembered the Golden Rule.

Sunday Scripture

A gently answer will calm a person's anger,
but an unkind answer will cause more anger.

Random Thoughts

OK, first of all I keep thinking today is Friday and it's only Thursday.

Second, I got a new chair at work, and I am seriously relaxing in it.

Third, I can't figure people out.

Can you?

I am blessed with a great family!

God is Good,
All the Time!!!!!

I can tell a difference in my attitude if I don't make time for Jesus everyday.

Find the happiness where you can, if you can't find it, make your own!

Sunday Scripture

Whoever loves money
will never have enough money;
Whoever loves wealth
will not be satisfied with it.
This is also useless.

The Power of words

The other day I was watching something about a girl who let what someone said about her impact her life in a profound way.

I can't remember who said it, or even what they said.  But I know it was something negative, and she took it to heart.  She took it so much to heart that she let one statement define who she was for a long time in her life.

Why is it that you can be in a group of people and one person say something nice to you and someone else say something negative, and it's the negative person that we remember.

I can remember times when people may have said something to me that was hurtful and it can be hard to get past.

Words have so much more power than we give them credit for.

The bible tells us the tongue is like a sword, and it really is, because when we say something hurtful to someone, it can be almost impossible to take it back.  We can apologize of course and most likely we will be forgiven.  But sometimes harsh words are hard to forget.

I am so far from perfect, but this is one thing that I have tried so hard to remember when I am talking to my kids, or any young person.  It's amazing how a kind word can bring a smile to someones face.

It isn't always easy to control our tongues, maybe there is something to be said for stopping and counting to 10.  If we could just step back and take a few minutes to think about what we are going to say, maybe it could save someone else a little unnecessary pain.

So I am going to try harder to only say positive things.

Because like momma says, "If you don't have anything nice to say, then don't say anything at all."

Movie Review!

This weekend, Mr. Wonderful and baby boy went down east to do a little fishing.

Well, you know the old saying,  While the cat's away. . . .  me and baby girl will play!!!

She has been asking to go to the movies but I just didn't want to see Charlie St. Cloud.  I am sure it is a good movie, but it looked a little sad and I don't really want to pay $8 to go sit in the theater and cry.  So I talked her into something even better.

The Other Guys!!!!

What did we have to lose?  Will Ferrell is super funny and Mark Wahlberg was easy to look at.  So you can safely say it had something for everyone.

It was well worth my money, I thoroughly enjoyed it.  So did BG!  It was funny and it even had a good story.

So I'd give it a definite Thumbs up!!!!

What I've been doing

Swimming!

Relaxing!

More swimming!

More relaxing!!

Didn't do this, just watched!

PS.  Didn't really swim in the canal, I am afraid of fish with teeth, but I did get in the ocean because it was super hot, and I did talk about riding that parasail, but then the drinks wore off and I decided against it.
